image002.jpgOur Tamil Department had activities planned out for our students in conjunction with the Harvest Festival, Pongal.

The P2 & P4 Tamil pupils observed Pongal in class. Pongal, is the traditional Harvest Festival celebrated mainly by Hindus. Cooking of the Pongal rice was demonstrated and this experiential learning also tied up with their TL curriculum. Pupils
image001.jpgwere also taught on the significance of Pongal and they viewed a display of items used for Pongal celebration in class. The Pupils’ writeup on Pongal was also featured in the national newspaper, Tamil Murasu.

We also invited  Mr Ravi, a parent volunteer, who  shared on his expertise on the traditional instrument “Tavil” with our P5 & P6 students. Pupils had an engaging “Question & Answer” session followed by hands-on practices.
